Charitable status
Status: Not yet recognised
The tax office has not yet recognised our charitable status (Gemeinnützigkeit). This means we cannot issue donation receipts and do not yet accept online donations.
The food from our campaigns goes to the local Tafel food bank. You can get involved right now.
How you can get involvedFor this we first need a notice from the tax office.
We do not currently accept money through the website.
Purpose
We organise food drives at schools. Whatever the students collect over one week, we check on counting day. Then the local Tafel food bank picks up the boxes.
Jam The Van started in November 2023 as a school project by Sophie Kitching and Pia Liesegang in year 10. Since September 2026, the four of us have been working on turning it into an association.
The purpose of the association is in particular the promotion of welfare, the promotion of civic engagement in favour of non-profit, charitable and other tax-privileged purposes, the support of people who depend on help because of their economic or social situation, and the promotion of public awareness of poverty, social disadvantage and the importance of mutual support.
